I don't see any cons besides you probably won't pass smog and need to pump 91 octane fuel.

I don't know why you put spinning or bumpy ride. Putting a GSR in an EG won't really cause much of an effect on the ride comfort of your car.

theres nothing hard about passing smog, you just need to make sure the swap is done right.

con is youre putting money into a car that is 10+ years old. so if you decide you want to sell it later, you most likely wont get the money you put into it. plus it probably will just get stolen

You must be lucky to be able to pass smog in a B18 EG. Around my area, even a single cam that has the world "VTEC" will not work. They will not even test the car, well unless you have gotten it ref and good to go.

I guess I need to move to San Diego.

the guys from danville va, i doubt he has to worry about f'n smog.

and wtf does lots of spinning mean?

and wtf does a motor have to do with a "bumpy ride"

you seriously need to learn more about cars, unless your parents are buying you the motor, then go for it.

Even if it's the stock engine? I don't get it. CA sucks if you like Hondas. And WTF is "world VTEC" that sounds badass! J/K

He's from VA so stop talking about smog! :-p

I have a GSR swapped EG(del sol) and absolutely love it. Gets great gas mileage, has plenty of power. The only thing reall to remember is that some aftermarket bolt ons can be expensive. If you want a real cold air intake its gonna run you about $200. Cause you have to get a Hybrid AEM one to fit right (EG w/ B18c1 intake).

CA = Strict.

Well a lot of smog tech around my area know what motor comes originally in EGs, EKs, Integras, etc. So when you bring them one that is swap, they know and would not want to risk their *** to smog it. Because if they get caught, they get in big trouble.

I guess at least CA have good weather.

Man it sucks here. People think MS is hot? BS. When it's 20degrees here it rains and we have 10-20mph winds and 70+% humidity all the time. I hate the summers here, I hate the winters here. We get like 3 weeks out of the year that is actually nice. A few in fall and a few in spring.

CA gets no humidity. Our temp range from coldest of 45 and hottest of 110. Most of the time it's in the 70-80s. We have horrible air pollutions though, China creates them and the winds takes them to southern California. Lovely.

I got a GSR in an EJ. There is no "spinning or bumpiness" to my ride. Its a good upgrade. Better then a B16 I think.

Swapping in a B18 is definitely better than that stock D series.

And referring to bumpiness or "spinning" whatever the hell that is, would probably go along with the type of suspension you have.

I bet he's talking about the "extra" weight of the B18 compared to a D16. Additional load on the springs might bottom out the shocks which in turn will have a bumpy ride. My .002

That's what I think he meant to but no, it won't bottom out it'll be just fine. Just my two thousandths as well.

Had one in my rex. I had to launch at 2,000 rpm or my tires would not grip. My friend bought it off me and put it into his EG. He put in a hydro tranny so it would be compatible with his car. It wasn't as powerful as the cable tranny in my rex. He got the conversion kit to transfer the cable tranny to make it compatible with the hydro system. He put the cable tranny in his car, and It was quick. The tranny we used was the YSK cable tranny. And I think Hassport makes the mount for the tranny. (not sure)

yeah people say you cant get your swap civic to pass in california didnt go through the bar process to make it pass. Just use the right motor take it to a ref and you should be fine. I plan to put a b18c1 in my eg but i am in love with my vx motor right now. I cant see swapping it out when i get 41 to the gallon on the cheap stuff when its my commuter.
