Both have a lot of aftermarket support. It all depends on how much you want to spend. I've had both, but I can't say which is better.

EG is obd1. Compare to EK's obd2. EF is obd0. It will save you money and complications down the road if you choose the right chassis depending on what you are planning to do with your future car.

My opinion, I prefer EG not only because I think it looks the best out of all the Civics but because of the weight and the obd1 is easy to work with.

It all depends on what you like in a car. We can't tell you that. I've had both, and I can tell you the EK has a nicer interior and is newer overall. The EG's do weigh a little less and they are OBD1, so it would be easier to work with if you plan on any type of FI or tuning. So other than that, they really aren't that different. It's all about personal preference. An EG will probably be cheaper than an EK, but it will probably have more miles and possibly be in worse shape. Just search around and try to drive them both and then make your decision. Good luck.

i had onwned a ek sedan before.and now own a eg. they are both great cars with tons of mod potential.it depends on how u feel on the driver seat. cause i feel ek dashboard is abit higher than eg dashboard. maybe it is just me.

Buy which ever one is in better shape and the one you like. It is your car not ours.

I have an eg hatch, but I like the body style of the ek better. Especially the ek hatch, but you can't go wrong with either.

i have both, i like my eg better. its easier to work on for one. installing a radio in an ek is so much work. i dont have a lot of big reasons for why i like it more, but a bunch of little ones. i think they look cleaner because the dont have a grill to stare at for no reason. but thats a matter of opinion. are you looking for factual differences, or just opinions?

I used to have a 93 that was D16Z6'd then B16A'd and 5 lugged. It had 350/450 springs on it and tokico blues. It was my daily driver (I also had a medium spicy S13 project going on).

I've owned a 91, a 93 and 2 99s. Out of the double wishbone civics, the EG is by far the better "performer". It shares a lot of chassis parts with the DC, and is a good balance of lightweight and chassis stiffness. The EF is light, but flimsy. The EK is solid but a little heavier. The EG is the most solid feeling, and the 2nd lightest. Most people argue that the 92-95 hatch backs were the best chassis to build on to road race. I'd have to agree.

The 99-00 civic just really appeals to me, I guess. I really really love those cars. I've always owned civics as daily drivers...so this one fits the bill nicely. My 99 hatch was B16'd, and 5 lugged, with the same suspension as my 93. The chassis didn't feel as planted and solid, but it was quieter, smoother, and WAY WAY WAY better looking inside and out (IMO). The ergonomics were better as well. It actually kinda sorta had cup holders almost. The 93's cupholders were a freaking JOKE. It was a good blend of civilization and performance the way I had it. Not quite as edgy as the 93, but almost. The motor mounts are softer, there seems to be more sound insulation, and it just looks a shitload nicer.

I like the wiring harness setup on the 96-00s, but you do have to mod it more to get it to work with a motor swap. You also have to deal with OBD2 stuff.

DAMMIT. I cut my finger earlier and now my keyboard looks like I killed someone with it.

I think eg's are the ugliest cars ever produced aside from the geo's. Maybe because they are the epitome of rice in my area.

Ek's are the sexiest cars IMo. There are a million other cars i would choose from other than an egg
