Default Question about rust.

So I just bought a car from Maine. It's got rust issues and a lot of the bolts are really bad. My question is if I use solvent to break down some of this rust, will the stuff that drips down onto other parts cause it to rust?

I'd also like to know. If I replace these rusted bolts w/ new ones. Will the rust start forming real bad again, or will it be ok since it's not in salty *** Maine anymore?

Last question. I plan on getting an ASR sub frame brace. There is a bit of corrosion on the sub frame. Will mounting the brace on there spread the rust to the brace?

just got underneath there and the 1/4 panel is fukkd... I could poke a hole through the rust near the bottom above the wheel. The drum is also completely corroded I could take off about .5mm of corrosion!

I'm gonna look into cutting out the 1/4 panel and cost of it (i know it's expensive). I'm also gonna look into replacing the drums or maybe just upgrading to discs... more insight on my first post tho plz.

There is nothing wrong with having rust on your drums or rusty bolts for suspension components. I would let it be.

The drums are fine and don't need to be replaced just because they have rust on them.

As for a lot of the suspension bolts, sure you could try replacing them but you will probably find that a few of them break or something else breaks as you try to take them off. I wouldn't tough it unless you have to. Your car is not going to fall apart. Hondas rust, it's a fact of life.

As for the quarter panel. That sucks. Mine is doing the same and it is a common problem with civics. Repair, replace, or leave it. That's your call.

My car has recently been demoted to a winter car so I am leaving mine as is. Trust me, I get a lot and a lot of salt up here.
