Are the rear sub frames interchangeable? Bolts on?
Cut & weld. You'll need a skilled body shop to swap the subframes. Replacing the subframe will cost somewhere between $500-$1000 + parts (I had to replace mine last year due to damage). I've never actually seen anyone do the swap, so you'd be on your own to see if it actually fits correctly. Get an Integra Type R subframe if you go that route, then you will no longer need a subframe brace to run a large rear bar.

I own a Honda EH9 S.I. which has met with an accident. Had a set of new Kido shocks with is safe after the accident. I bought a 96 EK3 and wanted to swap rear discs and shocks to it.
But the issue is that the SI uses ball not folk type shocks. Now i tried using the swapping to test the lower height controling part of the rear shocks with one a yellow shock and it fits. I don't know if D2 uses same kind of fitting to swap as I am getting a deal D2 folk fittings.
Reading comments above and other threads, if i am able to swap the lower part from ball to folk; adding washers to each sides, i should be able to fit the shocks from the EH9 to the EK3.
Yeah that totally works if you can just swap the bottoms from eyes to forks. The arms posted above are also an easy option if you can't swap bottoms.
I wouldn't suggest swapping a subframe unless scrapping the car is the only other option, i.e. it's cracked/torn. It's not that bad of a job in reality, but you need to know what you're doing because it's important that it's done correctly. There were a couple dozen spot welds and some seam sealer and paint required:
