clutch pedeal engagement inconsistent with temperature
ok so I had a clutch fluid leak awhile back and I fixed it by replacing the Master and slave cylinder and also used a 6 feet SS line with no damper. Everthing was ok until the temp in NY starting going down to about 20 degrees. When its cold out my engagement is very low to the floor but driving for alittle and getting everything warm the pedals engages alittle higher. I adjusted the pedal like 3 times already and the engagement is still very low when cold. I am wondering if my ACT stg 2 6 puck is going out (Plz let it die!!!!) or is this just a characteristic of ss lines. AND NO I DON'T HAVE A LEAK I CHECK EVERYDAY!!!
change your clutch FLUID (brake fluid) , and see if that helps... might be that the temps are messing w/ the chemistry of the fluid.
yeah i been searching and i remember that I used two different cheap brands of fluids. I didn't know they make synthetic brake fluid.
I also forgot to add that very soon after I finish bleeding my clutch awhile back the fluid in the clutch reservoir became blackish..when I put it in it was clear fresh out of the bottle.
Ok here is a update... my clutch pedal catches really low but if I pop the clutch if will engage higher and feel a lot closer to normal. I have already changed the master and slave twice with new ones and also I have the clutch pedal adjusted to the highest possible point. I have bleed the lines with new dot 4 synthetic brake fluid. I am thinking my clutch is going....I watched the slave cylinder move when I had someone pump the pedal and it looked normal.
I got warranty on the master cylinder so I am gonna get a new one and see what happens..my clutch has about 18k miles and is about 1 year old. Non raced...
