Idle Air Control Valve
Start the car and rev the engine around 2500-3000 RPM from a cold start until the cooling fan comes on. Then let it return to normal idle, find the IAC valve on the back of the intake by the throttle body. (its black if I remember correctly) Then reach down on the bottom and unplug the wire harness, if the engine idle drops down considerably then its ok, if it stays at the same RPM then its bad.
FYI- I'd invest in a Haynes or Chilton repair manual, they have all this information in them.
