Default Top repairable?

Hi, I guess I should introduce myself to the S2000 forum with this post too. I've moved up (you could say) after having 2 DC integras. I just bought an 04 s2000 yesterday (yes paid 100% in cash by me before you guys say anything...) and absolutely LOVE the car so far.

Anyways, the top was slashed and then repaired by the previous owner. Is it repairable at all to make it look original?

Looks like it's been stitched. No way that'll look like new/original again. Time for a new top. Looks like you need a new one anyways. The current top looks faded.

You can pick up the rag-top itself from hardtopguy.com for $775.00.

it isn't faded. That's a picture the previous owner took and i guess he used the flash.

I heard that the rag-top itself is a bitch to install onto the support bars. I have seen full tops for sale on s2ki for $800-900 so I guess I will wait for one to pop up.

Yeah, the install itself is not pretty. Will definitely take you a day to do. I personally would leave that to the pro's to take care of. Since you don't want any water leaks and such.

i did a top instal it wasnt easy but take your time and remember how stuff came off and how it goes back on and youll be fine.

if you take the stitches out and you seal the tear with epoxy from the inside it will be less noticiable but still it will never look new

This is what I will probably end up doing. Maybe even duct tape from the inside?

or you could do like a creative artist thing and start making stitches in your rag top and make it look likes its supposed to be there... u can even call it an emo car since it cuts itself and then u have to stitch it back up

Good Idea. I'll just write my name (Alex) since the "L" is already there and there is just enough space to do the whole thing. Thanks!

take it to an upholstery shop and see if they can fix, maybe they can just replace a section of it and make it look clean.

JDM name stitching!!! I'll be sure to pass on your 5% commission once I've patented this idea.

Back on topic though...this just gives me more reason to roll top down. Besides, I can't see **** when merging lanes due to the massive driver side blind spot.

I <3 my AP2 though.

if it doesn't leak I don't see a good reason to change it...

exactly, as **** as I am, it'd not bad enough to change it. I think I'm going to just rip out the stitching and epoxy+duct tape it from the inside.

I just washed it yesterday and no leaks.
