got my ES n1 muffler a while back...bolted on pretty securely...there are a lot of fumes when standing next to or around the car....dont really care...but sometimes i catch a whiff from inside the cabin with windows up and everything...is it just my imagination?? oh yeah and the tip protrdes past the bumper so its not gettin trapped under there...any ideas? thanks
fumes are coooool!! it may be a hole in the piping. to check for this, spray a little wd40 (i think
) around the area that the fumes are comming from. if u see bubbling than its probably a leak. if not, then i do not know

well when i got my motor i got a different factory header without a catalytic on it (my cx motor had it) and my piping is still stock so i think its a straight pipe. the bolts are as tight as i can get em so i dont think thats it. its getting STINKY. i smell it while im at speed too...is it even possible for it to seep into the car while im driving?? heres the funny part...it seems like its coming in through the vents...not burnt oil either...thats y i wonder if its my imagination...not only that but im going deaf from my ES N1 driving on the highway everyday...sigh...
Like Trac226 said, check all the bolts again. I'd check the exhaust manifold gasket to. As for your stock exhaust, I had the same problem when I did the swap in my CX. I ordered an exhaust (A'PEXi ws) for a 92-95 civic SI and then bought a used cat. The lenghth was perfect, although I had to cut the flange on the cat and have it rewelded about 100 degrees counter clockwise to get the bolts to line up. It's all sealed up now and sounds good in my opinion (not too loud). A muffler shop would have no problem doing this and depending on the set up you might not have trouble with the flange. I hope this helped.

With a CX header the cat is already placed about half way down the manifold (where it splits right). So if you are running a cx header and already have an si cat back just get a piece of strait pipe to fill the space between the header and the start of the cat back (about 15in or so) and have someone weld the correct flanges on it. With almost all swaps though, the correct manifold would place the cat after the header.
hey tony, I had the same problem.....But it was becuase Im running a test pipe. Are you running a test pipe? Or are you not sure? IM me and Ill tell you how to check.
BTW, this is normal when you are running a test pipe

sorry to revive from the dead, but did the problem ever get fixed?
having same issue, have test pipe, but had test pipe before and no problems, now its a problem.
why is it expected if theres a test pipe, shouldnt it escape out of the muffler and be gone, not come into the cabin?
