Ok so I hit a curb hydroplaning sideways around a curve and it messed up my rear suspension mainly. The LCA completely ripped out where it bolts into the subframe bracket. and my strut is bent. Something is up with the front I think. The tire has got some mad positive camber goin on. Any guesses as the repair costs and what exactly has to be done? I have a pretty good idea, but jus wanted to hear other opinions. Thanks.

you need a new rear subframe...i dont think thats repairable. and if it is...i dont think its worth it

Well repairing it is my only option really. . . The cost isn't tha big of an issue. I figured they would either all out replace the rear subframe or cut it out of another 96-00 Civic and weld/rivet it onto mine. But idk.

if cost isnt an issue, buy a new civic and transfer over all your aftermarket parts.

 

Your car's frame could be misaligned, and other parts could be damaged or bent that you don't know about. I'd go to a professional body shop to get it checked out and an appraisal done.

That's the one thing I can't do LoL. . . That's where it starts to become a bit of a cost issue

What other people are trying to tell is buying another car and swaping the parts is going to be cheaper than trying to have that fixed. If it is repairable it will be in the thousands and im pretty sure your car will never drive perfectly straight again.

 

Needs a new sub-frame.

Take it to a shop, if you report that it might actually count as a totaled car, depending on what they appraise to repair that. I think it's gotta be 50% the cost of the car or something along those lines, and the cost is probably like 2500 (regardless of all ur aftermarket crap on there). If it isn't considered totaled by cost of repair it's still some serious damage.

I'd get a shop appraisal and take it from there, it wouldn't be so bad if it was a muscle car . Though with unibodies damage like that can be catastrophic quite easily.

Shop appraisal = ASAP.

PS: From the pic it's hard to tell but I don't think it would be totaled - but it'll cost up there. You're definitely going to need a donor civic. Also, it's quite possible it needs lower frame work.

Thanks for the advice. . . But I can't file it on my insurance b/c I've had a few mishaps in a close period of time, so if I did decide to file it, they would cancel me. That's why repairing it is so important.

 

Yeah man, sounds like the costs of repair might be larger than the cost for a replacement car honestly. Best of luck!

E-appraisal are hard/impossible to do man. I would call it a loss and just get another chassis, like stated before.

 

oh wow. thats the worst damange on sub frame i have ever seen. at first i thought your shocks or spirngs are damaged.but if it is repairable.i dont think it is worth money.

Agreed! Unless you know a very good welder and a good body/frame damage place, and I mean really good.

 

Took it to the shop today. . . the guys said the cost would be around $3000-$4000. . .

 

Buy another civic and swap the parts, like mentioned -- it'll cost about that.

 

DUDE that's bad. Seriously that has to be a totaled car. What happen to the sleeve for the rear strut? Did the c-clip come off? Or did the perch break?
