Starting Problems?
I have a 1988 DX daily driver that I run around in and in the past little while I have had problems starting the car after it has been running?
The car runs fine and starts fine if it has been sitting for a while but will only crank over if I drive to subway run in for some lunch and come out and try to start it. It will just crank over but not fire. So If just wait 5-10min and try again and it usually starts right up? If not give it another 5-10 min and try again and it starts then for sure.
This happens in warm and cold weather does not seem to matter!
Anyone have any ideas of where to start with this?
thanks,
Darren

I had this problem with my car when it was dpfi also a friend of mine had the same problem with two civics of his whith dpfi. I would be willing to bet that you are throwing a code 16 fuel injectors. the best fix would be to swap to mpfi. however if you don't have the code then check the main relay. i have never seen a code 16 on any mpfi car.
Edit:if you don't have the money to do the mpfi swap at the moment throw some injector cleaner in the gas tank for the time being

Thanks for the addvice.
But what is difference between dpfi And mpfi these are dirrent types of fuel injectors? And how does one check the codes on the older 1988's i know how on the new Honda's but have not worked much on old ones like this?
Any idea on cost of injectors?
I will type the fuel injector cleaner as well thanks.

if u want for now till u solve it go to a gas station or a car accessory place, and buy that spray can that you spray into ur intake. forgot name but mine has spark plugs on it
http://www.angelfire.com/d20/h....html this has most of the info you need for the swap there are a million writeups out there so reference from a few i think the reason the injectors get bad faster is you have to fuel the entire engine with one fuel injector or 2 at wot instead of four so bigger load on the same injectors...the swap will also improve your gas milage and give you more power

on the passenger side floor under the carpet near the firewall is the ecu. start the car and watch for the blinking led light and count the blinks. there will be a pause in between codes.
