Cooling fans always going on after parking the car?!
So this is kinda random, but all of a sudden my 1994 Accord EX with 182k is having the cooling fans turn on when I turn off the car and park it. I've seen this happen in the summer a few times when it gets super hot. But it is winter now and around 40 degrees F. Even after a few miles of easy driving with just the defrost going, the fans still seem to always kick in after I park the car. Coolant level is fine and temp guage is normal. This just came outta nowhere...Any suggestions?
When the fans are running after a short drive and the key is off, open the hood and follow the top radiator hose back to the head; you'll see the temp sensor, in the pipe fitting.
Unplug it.
If the fans shut off you have found the problem

This happened to me once, and one time only. I was more concerned about why the sensor would be reading anything if the ignition is off, could you elaborate on that?

That sensor is there to protect the head from hot soak temps.
If the engine is at peak temp and the engine is shut off; yes, you are not creating any more heat; however the temp can rise from all the heat stored in the block/head.
That sensor is connected thru a fan timer unit that starts counting down when the key is turned off,yet can trip the relay if the sensor calls out HOT HOT HOT
The fans can cycle any time in the 15 minutes of the timer count down.
