Calculate max tire width on a wheel
I know there is a formula or a general rule on how wide of a tire we can put on a wheel. Does anyone recall the formula?
Of if you could answer the question, maybe I can figure it out.
How wide of a tire can I fit on a 5" wide wheel?

Most tire manufacturers will have a min/max wheel width for a given tire. It's mostly dependent on the tire. For example Hankook doesn't list anything for less than a 5.5" for their Z212. Their 195 tire has a min of 5.5". Probably a 185 would be the widest tire you can dit unless you go with a tall, regular tire (i.e. Hankook has a 205/70-15 that they say fits on a 5" rim)
What the hell wheels do you have that are only 5" wide BTW?

You're trying to decide things backwards. You need to FIRST decide the tire size, THEN decide on the rim width.
Also, the best tire size depends on the car it's going on, not just on the wheel size.
