Default do coilovers have to be adjusted exactly?

do they have to be adjusted exactly the same height as one another, for example, is it okay one side is a few mm higher than the other? i've noticed one side is a tight finger drop while the other side is not tight. what can i do to make sure they are exactly alike? or does it not matter?

When my tech installed mine he counted the notches and permanent markered them so he knew where to adjust them all to...

i use a tape measure but a caliper would work better imo.

in order to get them perfectly even your gonna need measure carefully. and when your talking about finger gapbs make sure its parked on perfectly even ground and measure carefully

When adjusting height on my car, I use measurements according to clearance from the ground to the unibody.

sorry to clarify, can one side be a mm or cm or something really small (not big enough to notice) larger than the other? I think my shop did not measure it correctly because if i stick a finger on one side of the front it is wrapped tightly, but on the other side the finger fits in perfectly. So the difference is not very significant, but is it enough to blow the tires or cause them to wear out unevenly?

also, how would I measure the rear to make sure its even, without removing the wheels? my rears are tucking so i can't really stick a finger in there...

Measure from the center of the wheel to the fender.

The 'proper' way to adjust them is to have your car corner weighted. For non-competition applications, just measuring the position of the collars should be fine.

I've read some people make the driver's side a couple rotations higher, so when the driver is in there its even.
Just jack that side up, and take the wheel off and adjust it. Find out what each rotation for your coilovers is. Mine is like 1/8" per rotation, or something, not really sure.
