95 honda civic ex with 98 spec jdm b18c5 with ls tranny
well today i went on a spirited canyon run with my friend in the car.. my max speeds were 70mph in the straights, alot of uphill downhill ****... start with car specs first.. lol.. anyway, i didnt see the temp guage move at all when i was in the mountains, but when i got on the freeway the temp guage was rising and got a bit over halfway up...
now im a freak about motors getting hot, i spent alot of money on it to just let it get hot.. but i cant figure out what the problem is, never happened before the radiator was full the overflow was empty and when i let it cool down when i pulled over it never went back up.. it was just up a little more then it usually is...
then i turned the cruise control on because i had a 40 minute drive on the freeway, then it turns itself off and i couldnt get it to stay on.. it would turn on for 5-20 seconds then automatically turn itself off...
anybody have a clue??

there isnt one.. thats how i got the motor swap.. when it was put in i guess i payed for one to be put in.. but it was never put in.. and ive had the motor for almost 10 months now and its never overheated or even got hot.. i drove to riverside today and back to temecula about 30 miles each way and it was fine.. then later the afternoon it got hot again.. but this time was 3/4 the way up the guage

It's not good that there is no thermostat. The thermostat does two jobs:
1) The obvious, controls the flow of coolant through the engine so the engine reaches correct operating temp sooner and remains there.
2) Slows the flow of coolant even when the engine is at correct temp.
If the coolant flows through the system too quickly then in some conditions it may not have adequate time to dissipate enough heat through the radiator, so coolant temperature may become hotter than normal even though the cooling system is otherwise functioning correctly.
It may be that on say a run through the mountains that as the engine rpm goes and down that the avareage rate of coolant flow (fast and slower) is enough to keep the engine at a normal temp, but on the highway at a fairly constant rpm that the flow is just that bit much higher on average and causing a cooling issue (?).
I'd suggest fitting a thermostat and see what happens.
I would think you're cruise control problem is an entirely unrelated issue, at least I can't see how there could be a connection.

yea but ive never had a problem with either one of them before.. cruise control works fine as long as the car isnt getting hot.. witch is totally weird but w/e...
ive never had a problem with the motor getting hot even last summer when i had ac in the car.. no problems getting hot.. its weird... only difference between then and now.. i put an ls tranny on it instead of the type r tranny cuz the type r tranny is about to crap its guts and i broke the heater hose so its just looped back to the motor
