drove to work today, parked the car. Went to go get a bite to eat, and when i restarted my car the oil light came on. Oil level is fine. wire goin to the pressure swich is still connected. Any suggestions?? i dont want to drive with the light. how can i check for oil pressure without a gauge. thanks

 

car info (model, trim-level, year) would help... unless, we're assuming that you have an ITR.

I think when people say that, they really mean "You ITR owners are losers who surf h-t all day and as a result I'll get a quick answer."

Also I think some ITR owners don't ask questions here for one of two reasons:

1) They bought the ITR because of the hype and take it to the dealer for any problems they incur (including problems with aftermarket parts).

2) They're too proud to admit that a mighty ITR owner does not know the answer to something.

You're probably better off asking in the hybrid forum... It definitely seems like some sort of wiring problem, and one that an ITR owner will probably never run into. The motor might be the same, but the application isn't.

 

doubel check yr the sensor is plugged in, the oil pressure sensor. if it is, it could just be a bad sensor.. or bad wiring.. really no way of telling unless you hook up a oil pressure gauge.

May be the oil pump same thing just happened to me but I was racing at the time. VTEC didn't kick in and I found metal particals in my oil and engine makes a noise the sound of metal hitting metal, SO check your oil pump. open the oil cap to see how much oil is getting to the head

yea its a 96 jdm itr engine. itr's were released in japan in 96. Thanks for the replies folks, ill be checking over the engine today since its a holiday

 

there is still oil in your car.. is your vtec working ok?

 

hope you didn't take it the wrong way when I asked for your car info... for obvious reason, it's a good thing we asked. It's gotta me one of your wiring that came undone or somehow shorting out. Sorry, can't tell you the exact problem, 'cuz I don't know much about hybriding...

 

ok had the car checked out today, and there is no oil getting to the pressure switch when the car was turned on for a second or so. Took the oil pump apart and nothing broken? why am i not getting any oil pressure, the pump has some wear on the teeth, would that cause it to not get pressure at all? thanks
