Default Red 92 CX Hatch Build Thread (56k take a seat..seriously)

Sup names tony im kinda new here although i lurk alot! lol well i have a Red 1992 hatch that i love to death...Actually just swapped in a D16Z6 today...just have to finish wiring up the harness that is giving me problems since certain things wont plug up..well here are some pics of when i first got her to how she is standing as of a couple days ago...i will have pics up of the initial Swap that happened either later or tommoro! ENJOY! (copied and pasted this stuff from my local Site im on and these pictures happend over time lol)

Sorry for the crappy camera pics! just thought i would share!

The first day i got my hatch!:arty0023

Shity D15B8

On the flatbed heading to the Glasspro!

Waiting to get a new windshield

A night infront of Harris Teeter

U can see the fading paint and clear coat! (jus got some sandpaper)

Got teh new Acura LS Meshies! 15' FTW :happy0064

Just a random pic of the hatch and my boy nates Black XB infront my my house.

Cool angled pic!

Just brought it into the garage starting to rip out the HORRID interior carpet and whatnot:fight016

Seats in!

Seats out!

Shitty Carpet! u can see how crappy it is and the dirt (u get what you pay for)

another interior shot

Carpet out!

And a snap shot of the D15B8 head!(not so bad for a engine with 240,000 miles)

Since i dnt have a Engine Hoist, i was going to do things the old fashioned way and drop the crappy motor out. BUT now i cant do that since someone wants the motor.

BTW: This is my first swap and i just jumped into it, so if it looks as though i did something wrong just tell me!:happy0034

Pic of the D15B8 head i took off!

Here is the block with the head off! (is it me or does that coolant look bad?)

That Intake manifold was a bitch gettin off!

This is how its gonna run with the Z6! Makes the bay look so much nicer! NO A/C FTW! lolz

Yes the bay will be cleaned when the motor is out! Might do a small wire tuck!

The putt putt sittin on jackstands!( And yes that dent in the fender has been knocked out with a mallet!)

Another snapshot!

My Si tranny that came in the mail!

And my new axles i got as well!

SO once it was dropped TODAY i went and cleaned the Bay with some de-greaser and it looks 100% better! Although as i was cleaning it, the paint started to come off..so i will touch those spots up later. Here are a couple snap shots of how CLEAN and BETTER LOOKING the bay is now than what it used to look like! ENJOY!

Here is a Before pic with it partially cleaned.(camera phone FTL:fight016)

Another Before Pic:

And Another..:

Starting too look a lil better(if u can tell from the dam camera phone....)

AHHHHH ALOT CLEANER NOW!! U can see the TRUE RED! lolz

MUCH BETTER!!!!

Even decided to clean the hood too!:happy0034

Clean BAY FTW!!!

NOW i have a question. I tried cleaning the Hose big hose lines cuz they had dirt on them, the dirt came off, then the dirt magically re appeared about a min later...Anyone knw how i can remedy this situation to make the dirt go away permanently?

the new clutch

Then Found out that 2 holes on the block were Cross-threaded...but got that taken care of with a tap and die set...pretty easy.

Well thats all for now...will post up pics of the initial Swap that happend today when my friend gets back from a meet.

Welcome to h-t, its good to see you really taking pride in your car. I've done pretty much the same, have a 92 dx hatch (235k mi.) swaped in a z6 and am boosting soon. I also have that honda lip on mine also, looks good. Keep it up

Yea i was planning on getting a B20 longblock with the Tax return but id rather get some suspension done to it and stick with the Z6! SAVE THE SOHC! My Plans that im looking at right now are:

Omni Power Coilovers
Sand/Primer/Re-Paint Milano Red
Get another Set of Wheels

cool project. Was dragging the engine under the car difficult? I put a motor in like that recently and it was a pain in the ***. I was doing it myself, though.

Actually since the motor was trash...i just took the head off and jacked the car up high as hell and took the driver side fender off and slid the old motor out...but it was alot easier putting it in since i was able to get a hoist to borrow!

(still waiting on pics from today's swap..might post them tommoro)

Woot well got the rest of the harness plugged up and everything....oh and daniel i didnt have to cut and slice wires...i just had to un-bolt that one part of the wire on my old harness and transfer it over to my new one..WELL i do have a couple problems...lol i cant figure out where ONE GREY PLUG goes but i also have ONE GRAY PLUG at the top right hand side of my intake manifold that i cant figure out what plug goes into it...i also turned the key to try and start it and heard the fuel pump kick in then after a couple seconds i smelled Gas coming from the Fuel Rail area???? (yea i tried starting it without shift linkage hooked up and no axles...lol)

Well i just have left is finish bolting up Shift Linkage and Install my Axles and i can try and start it again..

Sorry my friend has been kinda busy...i will post pics as soon as he gets them to me!

on a stock motor leaving the car running for like 10 minutes with no header would be fine in my oppinion.... but try and get a header on bolted up to ur exhaust so u can tune without going deaf.
