idle
i converted to obd1 today and i'm using a p06. as soon as i started the car it started to idle at three thousand. once it warmed up it would bounce in between 1000-3000 rpms. my friend told me that if i changed my throttle body it would stop the problem. any other ideas?
First things first
Vehicle - Make/Model/Year
Engine - code/year
I wouldn't go replacing the throttle body just yet.
Check to make sure that you have all of the sensors plugged in and in the proper locations. IACV, MAP, TPS etc..etc.. Did you do any work on or around the throttle body or intake manifold. If you did check for any disconnected vacuum hoses.
Is the P06 ECU chipped or stock. Buy converting to OBD1 what did you physically change, Just the ECU harness or did you do any engine bay rewiring?
Is your check engine light on?

Where did you get the harness?
Find yourself a list/diasgram of ECU pin outs for both of your OBD configurations. Physically verify that all of the swapped pins are in the correct locations. I bought one hat had two of the wires connected to the wrong pins on the ECU.

Before you go tearing into your harness where did you buy it from? Did you buy it used from someone or did you buy it new from a company? If it's new I would contact the manufacturer to see if they have any customer support. If you bought it from someone then you may have to look for ECU pin outs. If you use the search archive function up in the top right of the screen there are a few links around already.
You still haven't answered if the ECU is stock or not or if your check engine line comes on when the P06 is plugged in.
