sohc idle problems
hey guys, i have a really big problem. i have a d16y7 motor with a d15b7 intake manifold. i just bought the car and its driveable. it idles from around 1500 to 2000 and eventually idles wen in neutral. the guy i bought it from said it was wired for a gsr so im guessing that the wiring is off and CEL shows a code for IAT sensor, IDLER AIR CONTROL VALVE, CRANK FLUCTUATION SENSOR, and SECONDARY O2 SENSOR. do you guys think the mani is causing the problems or the wiring.
do guys have any input of suggestions? thanks in advance.
im so confused

vaccume leaks will give you that high idle. does it idle low first then warms up and idles high? or the opposite? or is it constant? if its constant and youve checked for vaccume leaks try adjusting your TB butterfly stop, it could be that it needs to be adjusted for the peiceing together youve done.
hey thanks for the suggestion. the car idles high then drops when warmed up. my friend said it might be the iacv so im gonna soak that right now to see how it turns out. ill try adjusting the TB butterfly stop later on today. thanks again
Whoa dude it idles high till it warms up??? thats not your TB thats kind of normal, depending on how high it revs till it warms up but sounds like IACV like you mentioned first.
research said to soak the iacv in gun cleaner and i now the car runs a lot better. fixed a vaccum leak that i found earlier too. but i was told to get a new iacv for because its more reliable. the funny thing is that it runs better on an LS ecu than the original one.???
well thanks a lot for the help guys i really appreciate it

No prob
good to hear its running better if it runs better on an ls ecu it would make sense because your gettin more air with your other manifold and an LS ecu dumps more fuel in to compensate for the air that the DOHC recieves you can also get your ecu chipped and tuned this guy : https://honda-tech.com/zero...56375 can answer tuning and ecu questions but is in socal so wont beable to do it for you.

thanks mann. if its not too much to ask.. do you think the fact that the car was wired for a GSR would affect on an LS ecu running good in a sohc non-v? i noticed extra plugs for sensors and v-tec solenoid but will it affect anything. sorry i should search this before asking such a noob question and i will right now
i dont know what your saying, the wiring your talking about is the wiring harness. and you say you have a NON-VTEC but you have a vtec solinoid? do you know what one looks like? im going to guess you have OBD2 harness and a P75 ecu. i think you need to figure out just what your talking about. and no the wiring harness has nothing to do with your car running "better" it will only effect running and not running. because the pin outs on your ecus are made for that harness with the same give or take do-dads and what not. so tell us which ecu's youve been swaping in an out because that might be your whole problem right there.
sorry bout the mix up....
right now i have the obd1 LS ecu with a converter to an obd2 dx engine harness. the codes i was throwing earlier were from the stock ecu. theres two extra wires behind the dizzy which im guessing is for the v-tec solenoid on the GSR from the previous motor swap. extra wires for knock sensor, ckf, etc. but the car runs fine now and thats what scares me. any ideas??

what ecu were you using before that was messing up? im going to have to say it is tuning<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by duefuss »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">No prob good to hear its running better if it runs better on an ls ecu it would make sense because your gettin more air with your other manifold and an LS ecu dumps more fuel in to compensate for the air that the DOHC recieves you can also get your ecu chipped and tuned this guy : https://honda-tech.com/zero...56375 can answer tuning and ecu questions but is in socal so wont beable to do it for you.</TD></TR></TABLE>
