Default Jumpy speedometer??...

On my 96 ej6, for the speedometer jumps around. All the other gauges work perfectly fine. I assume it maybe the VSS or the wiring to the speedometer? Or the speedometer itself? I'm stumped Any tips or advices as to what I can do myself.

i say clean the vss before you do anything else. or replace it if you have another one laying around. everytime my speedometer used to jump around it was always the vss.

How do I clean it, and with what? I assume its the plug facing down into the tranny located on the passenger side?

yes its the plug in the tranny. unplug it and spray some electrical cleaner on both ends and try that out. if that doesnt work replace the vss... it isnt hard. good luck

Good info, it won't cause some type of electrical short? cause I would be spraying a liquid on the terminals of the plug??

Make sure you have the electrical cleaner from an auto store. Its safe for jobs like this. Its made to spray on electrical parts without messing them up. Works great. GL
