ebay/cheapo urethane lip install!
just got my s2k over the summer, it took quite a lot of saving over my high school years but I did it all on my own. While I lurk on here often, I don't often post questions... searching usually does it. I couldn't get the search to work today and I need to know:
I got one of those cheap 85$ shipped lip to protect my bumper froj my college's towns crazy roads. I bought it off of s2ki, and the seller told me it wouldn't require instructions. I recieve a few z brackets of different sizes and some tiny screws and nuts. how does this thing go on!!! there are holes in the bumper but its not clear how this thing installs or if it runs flush with the bumper or not. Any help would be appreciated!!
I had a user recommend this guy on here.. dont remember his name, but somebody must own one of these!

You don't really need those z brackets.
Basically you put the lip on. There's two screws on each side that'll go into the splash guard/bumper. Then on the bottom, where there's those nuts/bolts for the undertray to attach to the bumper, you use those same holes for the lip. So one bolt will hold the lip/undertray to the bumper. I think there's 8 total maybe 10 total bolts on the bottom (don't quite remember the exact number).

No I have an OEM, but the concept is the same. If you can get at least one to line up you'll be fine.
I ran with the 4 screws in the sides, and two bolts on the bottom for 2 years without a problem.

i heard from s2ki that these have great fitment.
only thing though is that it doesn't have that rubber lining oem does between your lip and bumper?
is there any subsitute for it?

wait so you make it sit flush, right up against the bumper? i wasntsure if it was supposed to be down more and a few inches from the bumper using those z brackets... so you just make it sit flush and bolt it in? i'm not sure if it will do that... i dont think the holes line up!
i put one on my car last year.
it came with z brackets.
the brackets mounts to the splash guard under the bumper.
i had to drill two holes on the bumper where the wheels are.
i had to do a little dremel in that area also.
some predrill holes on the lip didn't line up with the brackets, so i just drill new holes.
i wouldn't say that it's a complete bolt-on but it wasn't too hard.
it looks good and protect my front from the orange cones.

ah-ha! they do NOT line up.. finally someone knows what im talking about... so where did you use the dremel and how much work was involved.. do you have any pictures
I know it is a little off of the topic, but does anyone know where I can find the little rubber stripping that mounts between the OEM lip and the bumper? I recently bought a used OEM lip, and it did not come with that thin rubber strip.
I dont mind running without it, but it would be nice to have it.

It's better to just get an OEM one, they come painted. For the price you get a replica + paint, the price will be similar.

Paint costs for the lip are minimal and definitely do not equal to the cost of the OEM. If they do, your paint shop is gouging.

well thats true, but i also depends on who you know.
the guy i know who did work on my car only charged me like 80 bucks for my whole front bumper.
1 pint of paint should be enough for a front lip. (i think?)
