F22b Again :(
I have a few more questions about a g22 build I could not find in the faq's. First off I have a jdm f22b dohc shortblock I purchased and it didn't include a tensioner. So I bought one from a buddy who wrecked his 97 accord. I figured that there both F series motors it should work but when I went to install it one of the pins that holds the springs is not there. There is a hole but it just goes straight through with no thread. Is the any method to fix this. I.E a bolt or tap the thread to match the spring holder. Also when I looked at 2point6's writeup for the tensioner install he used a washer behind the stud that holds the whole assembly to the block. my setup doesn't have one, neither did the motor i pulled it from. Is the washer a H series thing or do i need to get one? One last question I read over samiam's build and at the end someone asks about a lower timing gear and pirate answered him that he need's a obd2 lower gear if hes obd2. Im going to covert to obd1 via a harness so do i still need to do this or does it even apply to a jdm f22b? I forgot to mention this is going in a 2000 sh if that matters.

Don't worry about the spring. You don't need it once the tensioner is tightened.
The F-series engines don't use that washer. 2point6's write up is specific to the H22.

Thanks, I really appreciate all you help. I have one more question if you dont mind when i read over on of the builds you spoke of the lower timing gear between obd1 and obd2 im assuming its because of the crank angle sensor. If so I found a link to bypass it, would there be any major drawbacks of not have the sensor working? Heres the link http://technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm
Yes, you will need the balance shaft timing gear that looks like number 15 on this diagram.

That means that you need the OBD2 F-Series oil pump for the sensors that use the BS gear. OBD1 oil pump does not have the provision for the sensors to mount.
An OBD2->OBD1 conversion harness assumes that you are running bonafide OBD2 hardware under the hood. If you want to dig through the wiring and save the effort of installing an OBD2 pump and BS gear then you can get around it.
