!!!!HELP HELP CV joint HELP HELP!!!! damper fork through-bolt just SPINS!!!!!!!!!
currently replacing my driver side axle/cv joint. everything is all taken care of EXCEPT the damper fork through bolt on the bottom of the fork just SPINS!!!! WHAT THE F!!!!! I removed the 17mil nut on one side, but the bolt on the other side just SPINS with an extreme amount of force.
We hitting it with a small sledge with an impact wrench on the other side, used PB blaster, tried to use a puller, could not get a good press. ANYONE EVER RAN INTO THIS BEFORE?

So the bolt just spins after you took off the nut? can you see the other side of the bolt spinning to?
They will because its just a bolt and nut, no bolt thats welded or anything. Put a wrench on the bolt side and hold the wrench and use a impact on the nut, if you cant hold the wrench put a breaker bar or bigger wrench over to make it touch the ground so the ground can hold it.

YES EXACTLY, it dosen't make ANY sense, its really difficult to spin and it just KEEPS SPINNING!!!! the head of the bolt never backs out from the fork!!! WTF! aaaaaarrrrrrruuuuuugggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did you try putting the nut on a little bit and hitting it with a hammer? it should not hurt the threads if you put the nut on a little bit.

I have the Nut off, its just the bolt that won't come off. but you may have given me an idea

Also, after nuts off, you can preload the suspension with a jack to make it a lot easier and use a center punch the the bolt to knock it out, or just knock it out with a hammer.

tried preloading the suspension, hitting it with a hammer, and mini sledge, all while using a impact wrench. and won't come out it still just spins
well i think you going to need a new bolt and if you can get a air hammer i would get one that will get it out
Have you tried putting a jack under the LCA or disc for the brake and preload the suspension to take the stress/load off of that bolt?
Try putting it under the fork/lca, and pushing up on it since that is where the force is coming from. I think when you put under the disc you are indirectly pushing against its force and making it worse. So try jacking from under the fork, and may the force be with you.
"why not simply loosen the strut and drop the whole control arm with the fork attached?"
that would not be a problem except the axle needs goes throught the fork and will need to go through bottom of the fork as it is too big to slide out.
