Engine starts running rough while driving, then CEL comes on and smooths out
I have a 1990 Accord LX 290,000 miles, poor thing has had a hard life before I got it. Wrecked on both ends, but runs good before it warms up. While driving on the interstate if I come into traffic it almost seems as if it is flooding everytime I try to acellerate but after a while of this the Check Engine Light comes on and it smooths out and the acellerating power returns. Sometimes when it is cold the idle pulses between about 500 and 1500 RPMS. I am feeling both of these are related but this is the first honda I have ever owned.
I was hoping someone on this site might be able to enlighten me as to what I am looking for. I am only a shade tree mechanic but hey, even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then. Help me out folks???

Before your car warms up or when the CEL comes on it is not using the sensors or faulty sensor for info to run. This means you probably have a bad sensor. Get the codes from the computer once the CEL comes on and you will be on the right track.
