Tranny question
not too long ago i bought a used GSR transmission with a helical LSD. slapped on my integra and it worked just fine. only problem with it was the third gear synchro grinded.
weeks after i had finished my turbo instal. i was ramming it one day and felt no problem. the next day though all the gears felt as if it wasn't lubricated. i checked the bottom of the tranny and i noticed a hole of the like about 1 inch in diameter. we opened up the tranny and looked at it. i noticed that the lsd bolts on the gear sheared off. about 3 of them did. one of them created the hole. i was thinking they weren't properly tourqed.
weeks go by and i bought an ls tranny for $125 from junkyard.
i slapped it on and it ran perfectly no grinds, no problems.
the LSD still seems good. i was thinking. should i put the lsd on the ls transmission or should rebuild the gsr.
i dont know **** about the inside of transmissions so i would have to pay in order to get it removed and put in the other tranny. or i could rebuild the gsr transmission. it needs is 3-4 grade 12 bolts(id have to get anyways) and $80 alumminum weld on the hole and a 3rd gear synchro.
WHAT should i do?

You'd have to use the mainshaft from the GS-R to get that diff to work. It sounds expensive to rebuild that tranny when you have to replace synchro sets and weld the case. You'd probably be better off finding another used GS-R tranny and slapping the diff directly over.

good call...i don't know why i didn't think of that

wow i didn't know you needed the mainshaft in order to make the diff work. i was hoping to just put it in the ls. here in hawaii its hard to get your hands on anything GSR. (except rear leather seat)
i like my ls tranny its working fine. should i just sell the lsd and buy myself one for the LS?
