EF DOHC ZC problems

Default EF DOHC ZC problems

just installed a DOHC ZC in my 89 EF and it wont start... it just shoots flames out of the intake and exhaust manifold..WHATS MY PROBLEM????

sounds like your timing might be off. valves aren't closing and opening when they should.

do you have the spark plug wires in the right locations on the distributor?

do you know what en engine is?
cause you sound like you should be doin no ZC swaps.

Have you even read any of the posts above?

Sound like baaaaad timing issue to me, but jlicrx might be onto something with improperly placed spark plug wires as well.

You also gave us NO info. As in: what kind of car did this go into (trim level, etc.), did you do the correct wiring changes? What ECU are you using? Any CELs?

yea i have read them just trying to get everyones intake...its in a 89 DX.. i got a harness from rywire.com for the dpfi to mpfi and and a pm7 ecu

Find someone who owns a timing light and ask them to do it for you.

set your number 1 piston at tdc, and pin the cams in place then install the belt...always works for me
theres a hole in the first cam cap...line it up w/ the holes in the cams and put a 5.5mm straight punch or allen key in each one then throw the belt on and make sure its tight
