Default Quarter panel replacement....questions.

A guy said he has 2 brand new quarter panels oem honda for my CRX. But they are 88-89 and he doesn't know if they will work on the 90-91.

Is $400 each to much for them?

Also whats the average price for a body shop to replace 2 quarters?

Is there a right and a wrong way to do this work and should i look out for anything in particular??

I plan on getting it done this spring.

400 each is way to much for them. Get them out of a donor car or take it to a shop for that price.

There is a RIGHT way of doing it, and a WRONG way of doing it, make sure you take it to REPUTABLE body shop, this is definitly not for the do it yourselfer if you never have done it before or dont know what to do!

way too much? where are you guys getting your prices from? my system shows the list price for a new quarter for the driver side being $514.88 and the pass being $520.44, 19.5 hours each for labor at $40 an hour to put them on, thats what the labor rate in ga is, around 4.6 hours paint at $40 an hour, then you have 4.6 hours at $28 an hour for materials. thats per side. there are usually other things that are factored in, like seam sealers, sound dampering materials, hazardous waste disposal, car cover for paint. some places will charge to take the doors off, makes the job a little easier in some situations.

as far as the donor car idea, yeah, that wouldnt be that bad if you knew what you were doing. that could turn out to be more than you can handle, depending on hw well you know what your doing and what to look for. but a lot of panels have glue after all the welds are drilled out. you end up bending the panel and making more work for yourself or money if you are having a shop do it. you have to pull the back glass and quarter glass. you cut it off on the rocker and half way up the glass. then you have to drill out every weld.

there might also be some chargers for removing the rear bumper and tail lights. some shops include this in the price of the quarter and some dont. if it were me, and i needed to save money or wanted to, i would go to a good shop, tell them what you want. tell them that you wanna help do it and save yourself some money at the same time. ask them if you can remove things that need removing so that they do not have to do that, therefor they will not have to charge you for it. if they act like jerks about it, go somewhere else. i would understand if someone came to me and asked me this. and i would help shave some time off the price. but, dont expect it. there is a lot of over head at shops. they have to pay the guy working on it, the materials to do it and then be able to have some to put in the bank.

This sounds like its going to cost alot. What do you guys think of having someone weld in patch panels instead of replacing quaters??

i mine as well find a crx rust free in the west or down south rather than replace 2 quarters because i have noone i know in body field.
