Best place to buy a new jack?
I'm in the market for a new jack now. I'd like to get one of those aluminum race jacks so I can bring it with me to the track. What are some jacks you guys are using and where did you get it? I've noticed some leak over time and are not that good. I'd like to stay away from those and spend a little extra on something that will last.

I spent 5 minutes finding the same exact link when it was posted right above me, that's the one you want.... as long as you take your airbags off "pancake" mode you'll be able to fit it underneath with no problem

Harbor Freight
The jack from Sears is pretty good, but honestly Harbor Freight, Northern Tools, and Autozone all have a replica/copy of that same Craftsman jack for alot less money, and they all break the same way anyway, as the broken Craftsman in my garage will demonstrate.
The "cheap" one at Harbor Freight makes a decent second jack, but I hate having it as my only.

A search in the roadrace-autox forum will tell you a lot, but here's my $.02:
My HF jack has lasted 5 years of autoxing, 12ish times a year, and never given me a bit of trouble. This is the standard jack you I see at autoxs the most. But apparently it's a bit of a crap shoot, since some people have trouble with them. HF seems to be good about replacing the bad ones though.
From the anecdotal evidence I've seen, the Craftsman one has a much higher failure rate. This is ironic since a lot of people buy it thinking 'since it costs a little more than the HF, it should be a little better.'

Just so you know, Costco also sells a 3ton aluminum jack that is only available in the store(warehouse). The one listed online is a 1.5 ton.
The one to get is the one at the store for $139.99
It also comes in the pretty blue color and clears very low cars.

Ive gone through at least 3 of the red aluminum Crafstman jacks (something inside keeps going wrong, causing the jacks to leak and become worthless), and in that time I've had a cheaper smaller Harbor Freight aluminum jack that outlasted all three crafstman jacks.

IIRC, the lifetime warranty only applies to handtools. Warranty on the jack is only 1 year.

That's what I was afraid of too! And that Sear's one is expensive. I'll check Costco and Harbor Freight.

Yeah, I had the warranty, and they all lasted just about a year give or take, so they were replaced by sears, but I kept having to go back and replace them. The bleeding didnt work at all, I tried bleeding all of them and could never get them to work again.
Surprisingly, the cheap *** Harbor Freight garbage is really tough, and still works just as good as it did from day one. I dont get it either.

I got this as a gift a few years ago and it works well. Best part is that it fits under my car and even comes with a hard plastic carrier to lug it around. For a larger jack i use an orange harbor freight one. Good stuff.
