need help with motor, car went boom
Well I was racing this lancer the other day on the freeway and my engine went boom. All the lights came on and the engine shut off. I tried starting it but it wouldn't start. So I decided to take the motor out and take it apart. I took it apart today but the valves look fine and the pistons and rings looks fine. Plus the sleeves aren't cracked. What could have cause my engine to not start? its a stock b18b motor with turbo. any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
look in between the rings on the piston, they are called ringlands, and they crack. If not, probably a hairline crack in ur sleeve.
This is assuming u took care of the obvious, like checking for spark and fuel and what not.

did u have a 3-bar map sensor? maybe the vacuum line blew off and it shut the car down. did u see a plume of smoke behind the car after it shut down?

what do you mean went "boom" like made a sound boom?
did it spin over and just not fire up and run?

well i didn't do a compression test or try to troubleshoot it before taking it off which i should of. I heard a big boom so i thought my motor blew. its not the map sensor because it was still intact. could it be just that my timing jump?
well you will prob not find out till you get it back together, sucks but thats the way it is.
doubtful the timing jumped, but if it did the worst it normally does is cause it to run bad and can cause backfiring out the exhaust or through the intake depending on how far off it is.
