I was having a problem turning my temperature dial all the way to either hot or cold.....When turn the dial all the way to hot, something would turn it back to around a quarter or a way towards cold....same thing the reverse way. Any help on this would be great. Thanks

 

You need to go dash diving.

Passenger side right at the 'trans' hump there is a plastic cover under the heater core, pop that sucker off and you'll find the heater dial cable linked to the heater valve cable. unhook/unclip the dial cable and turn the dial to cold, then go under hood and turn the valve all the way off.
Now reconnect the cables and try it again.

The other problem that sometimes occurs is that the gear behind the dial jumps teeth and throws the system out of synch.
