What do you guys use to protect your headlamps?
Racer tape. I think duct tape would leave goo.
Edit: For all I know they might even be the same thing.

Racer tape.
Be sure to have a breakdown check list so you can remember to remove the tape. Twice I forgot to remove the tape from the headlights. The first time I drove 75 miles then the sun set and I wondered why my lights were so dim. The second time I noticed it in the reflection of my support vehicle when leaving the track. I pulled into the nearest gas station to buy gas and remove the tape. Then sitting in the gas station was a cop writing a ticket to a speeder. I radioed ahead to my support crew to position the Exploder to block the cop from seeing my head lights.

I used painter's tape and leaves no residue. Even use them for our autocross numbers in the blistering summer sun and still comes off clean.

Find it at Home Depot, Lowes, etc... Cheap for $2 a roll to protect $400+ headlights.

http://www.xpel.com It is 3m brand self adhesive plastic film.
just wondering, what about those black out plastic things (i think the company is gto?) that alot of doemstics have. The looks are not spectacular, but would they do a good job of protecting headlights?
they arent legal. its not so much about protecting headlights, its not having pieces of shattered glass or plastic on the track. plastic covers would only make it easier to accomplish that.
tyson - whos got 2 bullet holes in his headlights already.
