why does that suck were you just thinking that you could get a shorter throw cheaper by using the si one?

i got one from the junkyard today and i figured for free it would be cool. when i was in high school i had an 85 civic hatch and put a crx shifter in it and it was shorter so i was hoping id be able to do the same thing

if that is all you are worried about you could cut your stock shifter and grind down the end then take a dye kit to it for the threads and if it gets messed up you still have the free one from the junkyard

All short shifters will cause your tranny to grind if you drive like an *******. Cutting off the top of the shifter isn't the best way to go, welding more in under the ball is better. But if you don't have a welder...

The reason you get grinds is because people force the shift faster than the synchros can take it.

The ebay shifters are known to snap because they're aluminum. If you don't shift with 100 pounds of force, it'll be fine. But if you're always slamming your car into the next gear, it'll be bad for both your shifter and your transmission.

Why? I have been building custom cars for years, and that is the most accurate possible answer you could ever hope to get in my opinion.

the ebay shifters are fine, i have one no problems there just cheap and could snap but if you drive like your racing off the light everyday and slamming into gears its fine, but being its a short throw you probably will grind into gears i myself am saving to bya b&m shifter
