F22B and H23A Prelude Swap
How much different is a '95 F22B from a '93 H23A motor? I found the f22b but I don't know if I need the computer as well. The f22b came out of a Accord but the h23a is in a '93 Prelude. And will four wheel steering affect anything?
An F22B from an Accord is going to be a SOHC, while the H23 is a DOHC. I would use the SOHC ECU, and no, the 4WS won't affect the engine.
I'm doing the same swap right now...
Needed to get an ECU to match motor (P0A/B) and manual tranny (-A01)
I delt with the coil issue which was real easy to wire, extended a few others like the MAP and IPVC , added Vtec solenoid and pressue switch (don't knwo if Needed this), added back in the knock sensor.
I kept the F22b's injectors as they were the same impeadance and size.
I actually haven't re-installed the engine as I'm replacing the timing belt now. Another couple of weeks should do it - as you can tell I only putz when I have time.
Overall it has been a good learning experience and by trolling various groups, you can gleam enough knowledge as to what to.

Actually, its a DOHC motor. Search it.
F22A1,2,etc.'s and F22B1,2,etc's are sohc motors
the F22B was only available in japan in the 92-95 prelude si's.
Its a DOHC non-Vtec motor with an iron sleeved block. It produces 160hp but has about 145ftlbs (about 10ftlbs less than the h23a1. Its VERY similar to the H23 but has less displacement and is iron sleeved. The OEM maps are the same but if you need the map ask for a p39 base map.
I was thinking about going this route but i bought a jdm h22a long block instead.

Dude, he said it came out of an Accord. What Accord has a DOHC F22B??
Did you ever think that maybe not everyone looks up specific engine codes from all markets before they ask a question?

Oh, i didnt see that he pulled it from an accord.
I figured he wouldnt be down grading his motor to a f22b1/2. Thats why i figured it was a F22B when he said F22B. Common sense, eh??
But if your going to be swapping in a f22b1/2 youll have to:
Utlize your stock h23 engine harness. When you have both motors side my side make shure you have everything pluged in the correct place, add Vtec if you have to and if you need to lengthen wires, then now is when to do so. The F22Bx has the MAP sensor on the throttle body instead of the h23's firewall mounted map sensor.
Use a OBD1 F22Bx ecu. You have to swap pins A6 (ho2 heater) and (EGR) A11.
If you have power steering, you have to use your stock h23 power steering pump, bracket and lines. But you need to buy a properly sized belt (in not shure in your case). Or loop your steering racks input and out put orifaces. Make shure you use 5/16 transmission cooler/hydrolic soft line. theres a write up in honda-swap.com.
You may need a accord driver side motor mount. I know you need one when swapping in a h22 but in not shure if the h22 and h23 share the same motor mount.
Use your prelude rear mount and bracket, same goes with the front mount and the tranny mount.
You might have some fitment issues with your exhaust. Your exhaust might be to short to reach the f22bx down pipe. i know my exhaust on my accord is to long for my h22 down pipe so im gonna have to cut and weld the flange from my stock f22b2 downpipe and shorthen it.
Im shure theres more but its late and im shot..
Im actually gonna be finishing my h22 swap tommrow, hopefully. As long as i take a trip to napa ill be set.. If you need any parts lmk, i just took my f22b2 out and have a bunch of f22, h23 and h22 parts laying around. check out my for-sale thread, i have more than whats listed so ask if you dont see it there.
