help with h22 accord axle setup.
so i tried to order prelude axles to install in my 96 accord 2dr (jdm h22), and i got the passenger side put in, but the driver side is wrong. i have searched and found that people use the accord axles, so i have 2 questions. is it ok to keep using the prelude shaft in the passenger side? and should i use the accord driver side (intermediate shaft is female)? i was looking at accord driver side axles, and theres the really long ones that dont use the intermediate shaft. which ones use the intermediate? thanks for all help.
I'm not 100% sure on the cds but I know that on the CB7s you use both Accord axles and the Accord intermediate shaft as well. The prelude axles are too long because of their wider body.
I personally use the accord axles on both sides and the intermediate shaft as well. The prelude axles on the outer splines are too long. The wheels wobble.
i am getting a vibration while accelerating, but im not sure if its from the new prelude axle or from the old driver side axle i had to put back in after all the bearings fell out (boot is completely torn). which accord do i order the axles for (i dont know which ones dont have int. shafts)?
Hey phil,
Right now I've got literally the exact setup you do - 96 coupe with JDM H22A.
I've got both accord axles, and the accord intermediate shaft in right now.
HOWEVER you can use the Prelude stuff as well, so long as the intermediate shaft is swapped out as well. The Prelude axles are a bit beefier than the Accords. I'll be going this route once my other axle breaks haha.
supergenius currently has the prelude axles/is and he's recommended that to me.
To my knowledge the splines are different and the mixing/match isn't the best thing to do.

well, i just got a set in for the accord, so im gonna pull the prelude passenger side out and see if i can return it. out of curiosity, what fluid does the transmission take? is it just regular 5w 30 like the b-series? thanks for all the help!

Auto or 5 spd?
If it's 5 spd, GM Synchromesh all day long

so i got the accord axles in and all is well. i did notice the prelude passenger side axle made the wheel wobble cuz the outer splines were too long. you could probably put a spacer behind the nut and make it ok. thanks everyone for the help!
