Default D.I.Y painting VC Gone bad (Header Smoking)

Today I though hey lets me do that Wonderful DO-IT-YOURSELF Paint your Valve Cover. Everything went great. painted it ....Only this is where I think I went wrong I accidently painted my VC Gasket. So i scraped the paint off and rubbed the top with oil. Put everything back on when to crank...It seemed find back up then check the engine.

Like 20 sec. later I smelled Smoke and see smoke coming from my header!

-Maybe should have let the paint dry alittle more
-VC Gasket no good
-First diy...

What paint did you use? Most people have them powdercoated IIRC or if not they use a special high temp enamel...

Did you paint the Valve Cover while it was still on the engine?

And what type of paint did you use?

if you touched your header than its going to smoke off the oils from your hands.....just let it run for a while. as long as its not catching on fire.

lol, Well, I was just asking.. Was trying to figure out how you would manage to paint the gasket if you had the Valve Cover off.. I guess you just let the gasket on the Valve Cover when you painted it then?

And I was thinking you had gotten over-spray on the Header as well and that's why it was smoking or something..

Pic's after it drys good.
