charcoal canister
The idea of venting highly flammable gasoline and/or fumes directly from my car's gas tank doesn't seem like a safe modification. If there was an option to do this without creating a fire hazard, I would be interested to know it.

I've been driving sans canister for three years now and I have yet to ignite myself, even in situations not limited to but including a starter feed shorting to ground quite violently. You also have to think about the amount being vented, and how it is variable depending on atmospheric conditions of the tank, then you have to think about how it interacts with the air in the bay, which for the most part is constantly being refreshed from the outside atmosphere.
I understand the threat is small. YOU have to unerstand that my luck is BAD. JK
I will probably remove the canister when I do my swap. I will probably vent the line out of the bay, to the ground. Thanks for the input.
If anyone has had any negative effects from removing the cainster please say so. Although if someone had blown their car up, we ought to have heard the tale by now. I guess I'm a prude.

Next time your crusin on the highway an the AHOLE infront of you flicks there cigarette out the window and your drive over it you will be happy you have your canister in
Even if you flicked that cigarette into a bucket of gas, 99.9% of the time it will just go out (I've tried). So I don't think that AHOLE will blow up your car.

Just wondering.... why would you try that?
But it is the gas fumes that will light and not the actual gas liquid.

It's there for a reason and I really dont car about a little black cylinder in my engine bay. I'd rather not have to deal with a pressure issue in my fuel tank.

This is how i eliminated mine when i did my z6 swap. Clean firewall and no pressure issues for me.

The entire purpose to have the charcoal can and valve is to reduce hydrocarbon emissions into the atmosphere. So by removing the emissions control items you ARE helping to expedite the eroding of our ozone. All because it looks ugly. Good job guys!

the tiny bit of emissions you will be emitting from this gas will not affect anything. think about all the gas stations around the world. all 10 gallons you put in your car at a time, is it capturing the fumes as it seeps around the nossel? NO, i would say THATS the biggest polluter. the canister practically does nothing. its "suppost" to "store" fumes in this charcoal canister untill your cruising down the highway and then, the valve opens up and allows the canister to be sucked of its fumes... it works practically the same way an egr valve works. there is no need to worry about it. i dont think you will hold a lighter up to the little hose will you? and if you do, then you deserve to blow up.
ditch the can unless you have emission laws/inspections.
