1995 honda civic lx 1.5 16 valve would like more power
Hello I have a 1995 civic with 148 thousand on it. Still runs good but would love to have more power with out getting radical. I have noticed that someone posted about the stock exaust manifolds on these. Is a aftermarket one better? What else could I do? I have a k and N air filter which I heard passes more dirt than stock, but not sure. Anything else that could help? Im not interested in doing a turbo, that seems too radical, but low end power would ne nice. The car seems to hit a power spot at 4200 rpm, its like the "power light switch flips on when I reach this rpm. I have replaced the 02 sensor.
yea that might be fun but I dont have the extra money to do that. I just want to see if theres anything easy and yes I know easy cheap is not so common. Hell if I get 5 maybe 10 to 25 hp that woudl be great. its a daily driver I got for 200 bucks, put tires hoses and a few other repairs into it and it runs great. Im not at all familiar with all the mods that can be done much less all the different engines to stuff in it........although I am capable of engine swapping. The only mod I have now is a k and n air filter....which Im thinking of taking out when someoby I know said hes seen the damage k and n air filters do to engines..not sure if this is true or not. Ive seen that ignition products dont helpmuch and I ve already tried that with my s-10.
leave it as is. NO power can be made from a single cam w/o MAJOR work. a swap would be most practical.
just to be curious, are there any swaps that keep the original transmission? or do you have to do the whole thing and how much would the next level of sway cost since everyone is saying these motors are cheap
