Default is lsd really needed?

is an lsd really needed if all i want to have is a pretty quick daily driver with no intentions to taking her to the track. i know the benefits of the lsd for a track car but will this make that much of a difference for just playing around town. and will it improve wheel spin on the starts. just wanted to know if worth the extra money.
thinking about h22 eg.

Then no it's not absolutely needed. People usually don't realize the labor cost that comes along with it and it turns out costing a little more than you expected. Of course there's always the I'll rebuild something else too "while I'm in there" as well.

If you did a little more than daily driving the car, I'd say to go for it. Many would agree it's their favorite mod by far.

I've run open diff on my turbo GSR for two years...on my upcoming build i dont have the money for an LSD so i'll be running a 450whp GSR with an open diff if that helps

actually in a eg yes. they get rid of wheel hop which breaks axles. and no you wont spin more because power is going to both wheels. and on throttle cornering is as good as it gets with a lsd

Yea, but, he did say no intention of taking it to the track. How often do people really launch their cars on the street?

If you're not tracking it...save the money. Of course its nice to have, but far from imperative.

It depends on how much power you're shooting for. If you want 450whp like Schister, then you will want it really bad, but a stock H22 will not be bad.

Like everyone else, if its just going to be a dd and not see the track, i wouldnt worry about spending the money on it, and if its just a stock h22 it wont be too bad on wheel spin.

actually i have yet to see a car spin single trac and wheel hop/break axles

But have seen plenty of cars with lsd wheel hop. The wheel hop issue is not resolved by swapping tranny parts. It could be a number of things causing the tires to hop while spinning. Tire pressure, alignment, camber and so on.... Adjusting the suspension, traction bar, stiffer motor mounts and blah blah blah are ways to prevent it

For DD you don't need lsd. It's a nice thing to have though.
