ebay tein basic dampner
hey dudes,
Need your guys's help, please. Has anyone ever bought tein products or anything from an ebay seller known as Kuruma Motoring? I'm thinking of buying a set of tein basic dampners for my 91 si, they look legit but I thought I'd seek out a second opinion
Heres a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...l1247
also has anyone heard of these guys here: http://www.autocarparts.com/c_..._TEIN/
Thanks for the help.

sometimes the stuff on ebay can be decieving, however if you do decide to get any type of suspension i'd buy it from a known source, might be worth it to spend a couple extra $
Yea, I thought about that, I was thinking of buying it from jdm password, but thats more than a 100 buck difference y'know. And I know some sellers on ebay are actually stores, so why not, that way I have some $ left to buy one of these babies.

You think so. I've heard from lots of people that there really good. If not what would you recommend. I was thinking tanabe or eibach but settled on tein. Anyone, opinions?

A lot of the "L33t JDM" shocks aren't as good as you would think. I actually have a nice statement on them from my EVO friends --> <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">if you do drive your car low and you want ONLY a comfortable ride. this can be done by getting a set of coilovers, lowering to the desired height and then tuning the suspension to full soft. but if you do this DO NOT drive like you have s performance vehicle... you will end up bottoming out, losing traction, looking like an idiot and possibly hurting other people. man up and act the way you paid to, if you didn't get racing suspension, don't race!
consider any coilover as the quality doesn't matter too much when you just want a cushy ride. you can determine how much longevity you want personally and go from there. companies like tein, tanabe, jic, buddyclub etc ad nauseum make suspension for people JUST LIKE YOU. their backwards spring rates and horrid damping will not give you a balanced performance handling machine, but a lowered, cool cruise, pimp ride.</TD></TR></TABLE>

You can find the same type of information in our suspension forum along with numerous shock dyno readouts.

dont buy the cheap tein stuff, save your money to get the super street coil over system with edfc (electronic dampening force controller) for inside your car.

what you're saying is, I should get something with adjustable damping force and stuff so I don't go loose on the freeway. Like the tein ss coilover ( I'll do research on the recommended ones here, later )

I've purchased items from Karuma (for my wrx), in fact...I've purchased a couple items from them...They are totally legit in every aspect (as i have 100% feedback, 90+ transactions myself)
As far as the basics, I have them on my DC2 and I love them. IMO, basics and good sways are the way to go...handle on rails son!!!
If you plan on track whoring your ride stick w/the good stuff as previously mentioned.
Just my .02

I did research on bottoming out, because that was something that had me worried, well, supposedly there is no more risk than if you ran stock with the tein basic dampner, as long as you follow the limitations on the lowering, and they come with shocks to compensate for the change in spring rate, since i'm not exactly a tuner, I just want to replace the old struts on my car, i don't plan on lowering it any more than one inch. so I should be safe with the bottoming out
still, Good looking out
maybe I'll contact tein about it, see what they have to say about it

Just read his feedback and if you go to the tein website they have pics of bogus product with their name on it(It'll show the difference between the legit damper's and the fake one's) and a list of official seller's that carry there product.
Wow, um okay... haven't been here in a while. Anyways, got the tein basics by now, and also tanabe sway bars and blox rear lower control arms. I'm really satisfied, it all worked out fine with me; just replacing oem parts for better ones I guess.
Next I'm getting blox rear camber adjustable arms and skunk2 front camber adjustable control arms. Also thinking about the tein pillowball mounts and tanabe strut bar and underbrace.
Anybody have any experiace with the last four items, good or bad, Pics.

Your an idiot, this is one of the best suspension companies around.
Please save your money and buy the SS super street Tein's with the EDFC. The ELECTRONIC DAMPENING FORCE CONTROLLER ROCKS!

do it right the first time...koni / ground control

Ya and then have no shortened shock body so when you lower your car on those rediculously over priced HAT-OVERS known as Ground Control, it causes your KONI's (overpriced pop-metal) to wear faster.
Doing it right means NO HAT-OVER COIL OVER SYSTEMS
Do us a favor and give advice to the KONI KLAN

I agree that Tein is good, but not the Basics or SS. They are trash for that much money. Let's talk about the FLEX and I will agree with you about quality. Every car I have driven with this **** bounces like crazy and is very unpredictable. I speak from driver's seat experience.
No, the shock bodies on my konis are not shortened but...I do have the extended top hats and NO, my car isn't slammed to the ground. Do you think those **** Teins aren't going to wear when they are slammed down to the ground just like most other coilovers?
Well, I could give a **** if you think that I'm an "idiot", I'm not going to jump into a childish suspension brand argument with you. I came on here to give my OPINION on this suspension from having driven more than a handful of cars with the setup and not attack people.
...I sleep well at night knowing that my car rides great, is very predictable in the corners and I did my homework before I bought what I have.
