Default road rash

so i decided to remove swirls on my ebp em1. so i went to the parts store and bought meg. clay bar kit, 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper, soap wash cloth, applicaters etc. so i begin with the hood. i clean it with soap and a wash cloth. then i wet the hood and begin to slightly apply the 1500 grit sand paper. the i clean the hood again with soap. then i wet the hood again and use the 2000 grit twice with the sand, then clean, then wet and sand again method. when im done the expletiveing hood still looks scuffed. so i clay bar it apply scratch remover and wax and it still scuffed. where did i go wrong? how can fix it before the auto part closes?

You need to buy a buffer and some nice polish/compound (I use a Porter Cable 7424 and Menzerna SIP and 106FF polishes, but there are many other alternatives to cheaper polishes). That will clean the paper marks up.

If you dont wanna pay all that try to find someone who has a buffer and have them do it. Any detailing service or probally a body shop could fix it for you.

you don't sounds like you know what you are doing.

the wax came out long time ago, how you suppose they will stand up to sand paper?

you need to compound and buff the area, if you did the sanding correctly it should be 30 minute of work with a wool pad then foam pad.

sometime it's easier and cheaper to bring it outside when you dont know what you are doing.

you could cut into the clear, burn thru the clear and make it worse
