gauge cluster swap for 89 DX sedan, searched still wtf
http://www.ef-honda.com/main/viewtopic.php?t=1400
so how exactly is this swap done? all we went and got was the CRV gauge cluster, no wires or anything else, later realized there is a buttload of soldering that needs to be done which is not a problem except that the damn gauge cluster doesnt friggin FIT, (and getting an electronic speedo and tach n **** wired right)
one thing we did notice a lot, was mainly this here

the area around the top of the cluster is rounded, and theres a lot of other crap to it, and well in my freinds civic, the trim around the gauges at the top is square-ish
so what im thinkning is that we were maybe supposed to get the plastic dash that goes around the gauges too probably???
also then i saw a stock gauge cluster in a idk what, EF maybe, it was square as hell, but it was in MPH and had a tach, so it wasnt jdm

im thinking it would be a hell of a lot easier to just get that one maybe?

No, you don't need the CRV gauge dash cluster shroud, you'll use the stock one for your sedan.
What do you mean how is the swap done? The link you have shows all of the pinouts you have to change and even how to swap out the VSS.
If you're asking about the JDM clusters, they can be hard to get sometimes, and in my personal opinion, a little overpriced, plus they still use an elec VSS
And yes, a stock USDM SI cluster should go right in with no wiring as long as its the right year ie: 88-89 or 90-91

The 89's have a different shroud. The 91's have a rounder and seemingly larger cluster shroud.
The wiring is simple. By looking at the back of the cluster, the circuit is very easy to minipulate. Make sure you get the pig tails from an obd1 or 2 civic, integra, or crv. Get the vss clip as well.
If your gonna do it, make sure you solder and shrink wrap. One poorly connected wire will make your gluster go nuts...
