h23 engine swap..What are possibe matches?
I have a '96 h23 prelude si with manual transmission, looking to swap the engine. I am looking for possible matches, and a place to find one as well that isn't too expense. Any info would be appreciated.
H23A, H23A3, F22B (DOHC nonVTEC) are all about the same engine overall.
Or do you want to do an H22 (VTEC) swap?
Or do you want to do an H22 (VTEC) swap?
I leaning towards the h22 vtec swap if it isn't too much. But I would definitely want a tranny w/ that too. I'm just trying to get some ideas. My engine right now just needs too much work.
or you can buy a used h22 from wrecked cars if you want to cut down on cost. if its still in the car, even better. (so u can start it)
A used one from a wrecked car is going to run appx 2000. Sellers know the demand for H22's, they aren't ever going to be as cheap as an H23 of F22. You might get lucky somehow and find one for cheaper, but don't count on it. Add about another $500 to the total to replace all the things that you need to when doing a swap.(timing belt, water pump, motor mounts, etc..) And be very careful who you buy from. There are a LOT of scammers selling honda engines. Look in h-t to find reputable motor sellers. I've heard nothing but good things about hmotorsonline.com
i was thinking of doing a JDM H22a swap with my Si but i also want a turbo realllly bad. I hear the jdm swap is way worth it but i also did research with h23 turbocharged and got good feedback i was surprised cuz they really pulllll. my engine is in good condition tho so u might want to stick w/ the swap although its a lot of work, time, and of course money.
