D16 with manual Vacuum Advance ign timing help

D16 with manual Vacuum Advance ign timing help
hey all,
my D16A3 has manual Vacuum Advance on the distributor.
Im looking for a set of instructions on how to correctly set ignition timing on this motor.
Main question is do I have to block the vacuum lines on the advance or leave them on as they are?
If I leave them on I can't get far enough movement on the distributor to get 16 degs BTDC.
Can anyone provide me with the correct set of instructions as everything in terms of literature I have atm all has electronic advance.
