how to tell if i have had a swap done???
humor me with this guys. ive looked around and didnt find all to much.
i was told today at the tire shop that they think i might have a swap done to my 93 vtec. (im the 3rd owner) it has a 2.2l vtec, but they think that its a newer one that was sawpped in. its my understanding that those engines dont have the vin on it but a block number.
how would i be able to see if its the original engine?
thanks in advance.

The Vin Number of the car can tell you what motor it should have. You can scan the vin at one of those car fax places or someone else here can elaborate on the break down of the VIN number, cause IDK.
i do not know where the block code is, im sure i could find it in the manual, unless someone wants to tell me where to find it.
can i reference the block code with the vin# of the car?
i know the car has a h22a1, i just dont know if the one thats in the car now is the one that was there when it was born.

the block code is right below the window to check timing where the trans and block meet, there is a flat square that should have H22A1 on it and then some other numbers below that. if it has H22A it was a jdm motor swap, or H22A4 is a usdm 5th gen motor.

i thought the engine serial# was part of the vin#, or the vin # was printed on the original engine of that car, or something like that...check ur owner's manual, i think it explains it in there somewhere
the block number isnt part of the vin. they were able to check their system. it might be for other hondas but not this one.
