Default Fastbrakes 12.2 inch kit on EG...

Hey gentlemen,

Prepping a '93 civic Dx hatch for NASA H2. Looking at the Fastbrakes 12.2 kit for the front of the car. Two questions, I have a B18C5 in the car now, how difficult is it going to be for me to hit 2500lbs? Also, the subject at hand, the 12.2 kit requires 16inch wheels or larger to fit, I run 15's at the moment. Is it worth upgrading the wheels an inch for the extra braking? Should I just stick with the 11inch kit? Appreciate your help.

Matty

1: Hitting 2500 lbs will be easy. Beefy cage will solve your problems, passenger seat, etc.

2: 11" should be fine, and you can always add ducting. There are pros and cons to both choices. I personally chose the 11" setup, but I have a lighter car (2200lbs) with less power (~20whp). I think Bookler (speedracer33 I think is his username) has 16s with a bigger front brake.

yea. booklers got borsche clappers on his car i think.
my h2 ef is around 2500. its not hard to get there. just dont take out as much ****. i would stay with 11" just because it makes things easier. wheels, tires, ect. 11" and maybe some bl1ng spoon clappers should do the trick with some ducting if heat becomes an issue

At 2480lbs with driver and full tank and when I add a passenger at 170lbs I'm at 2650lbs. Using No ducting, I have not faded 11" ITRs with good pads to the point I felt at risk of failure. I've gone 25-30 minutes all out on the setup as well. If anything my peddle got slightly soft b/c of my AP raing 5.1 fluid.

11" ITRs with Satisfied Gransport GS3 pads FTW. Over 3,000 road miles and 1,300 track miles on the same pads/rotors and ticking. Rotors are about dead though. They'll get replaced before I get back on the track though. I always carry a full set of spares to the track anyways.

Paying for 16s and 17s is for Rich Speed Freaks that have a whole lot of car to backup the useage!

6spd, only thing I'll say is that there have been some people who have successfully used 16" and 17" wheels. See Bernardo's H1 Integra, and Hartanto's H1 EK. Did that one aspect show a significant benefit over the other drivers? Almost impossible to say. But 255 rubber on Bernardo's wheels has to be good for something. Just something to keep in mind.

All that being said, I'm still on 15s

I am running a Fastbrakes Wilwood Kit (superlites 4pot) with 11.75inch rotors. They can fit under a 15 but I choose to run 17's so i can fit the 235's.

I have a 230hp H1 car

Spoon calipers on 11's is hot too it was my other choice.

bigger wheels with more weight from center will require larger brakes as well.. .

Personally I do think 17s is the right decision for H1, not H2. All depends on your pocket book and if you want to be a front runner I guess.

If Bernardo is using 255s, that's another discusion.. .

Furthermore, you wont see me in H1 anytime within the next 4 years. Sooo.. . yeah.. .

Ah, somehow I totally missed that little H2 part. You're 100% right in that case, no need for that much brake on an H2 car.

I'd run 17's on a few different H2 cars. the RSX's, the TSX's, and the 06+ civic SI

well... yeah. I didn't cover that feild, just older cars I guess. The newer cars would probably have problems going to smaller brakes anyways.. . That'd be another thread.. .
