Default Fueling Problems

Car - 92 Hatch CX (STOCK MOTOR)

Problems - Starting up (acts as if no gas goes to motor after first turn over, second turn over it starts), bogged down after 45 mph, now wont rev past 2k rpms without bogging down.

My idea - Fuel filter (easiest fix) Main Relay (known problem?) Or Fuel Filter (if these go out then it doesnt get fuel at all)

anyone have some input or had same problems?? my car is down in a bad part of town, i have to have my father help me tow it home and then wont have a vehicle for another day and so im trying to figure out whats wrong tonite so i can fix it in morning before my dr appt so please help1!!!

Doubt its the main relay if you here the pump priming. You could try a new filter, but since you saying its bogging i think its ign timing maybe.

Im really not sure, but its like how does timing belts skip a tooth in timing, it just happens sometimes. Ign timing would be worth checking though, i've seen people with similair problems and that be it. Do you have any cel's? Could be a map sensor, but since a fuel filter is cheap and simple, it does sound like a good starting point.

You'll need a timing gun or light, but you could just check the bolts that hold the distributor on, if there loose check the timing, if tight i wouldnt worry as much.

How old is your distributor cap, rotors, plugs and wires. you can pull your cap off and check and see if there is white stuff all around the terminals on the inside. also see if the rotor is burnt. Sounds like you need a tune up. my bothers car did the same thing. ran bad, wouldn't go over 35 (auto trans) finaly died and wouldn't start. all in one day. checked cap and rotor and the were junk. new cap, rotor, and plugs. after a very hard start it runs great. 3 thngs make an engine work. fuel spark and compression check them all till you find the bad one. good luck.

im 99% sure its something to do with fuel delivery, only cause the old fuel filter was full of gas, and this new one wont get any gas to it, so i put my key to the on switch and heard the fuel pump turn on or w/e, so my next idea would be the main relay, any ideas on that??

you can always pull the line off the fuel filter that runs to the fuel rail and see if any fuel is coming out. but becarefull it going to be like 40psi and gas under pressure is vary flamible. just have someone tuen the key to on, and see if you get fuel out.

also if you can hear your fuel pump your main relay is working normal.
