Car doesnt want to start, but runs fine
SO here’s my problem; I have to crank the car approx 10 seconds, release, crank again, and it fires once and dies. Crank it again, it fires twice and dies. Depending on the third crank it either fires up or runs roughly, (so lean it wants to die) or fires 2-3 times and dies. Soon there’s enough fuel to run, it takes about 30 seconds to get my car to idle on its own. This problem is worse the colder it is.
What I have attempted to correct it by; Replaced fuel pump, checked crush washers on fuel filter. Fuel filter only has 10,000 miles on it. There has been no other work done. I hear the fuel pump run when key is turned on or bumped.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

What effect would cold start timing have vrs warm start timing??
More info; The timing belt has 15k miles on it, I drive it everyday. I still am driving it to and fro to work everyday, even with the starting issue.

yea i agree- i think ur ignition timing is off so far that the car cant hold an idle. I think it is retarded too far. Does the car feel like its a bit torqey but has no power up top or the other way around? Takes forever to get going but once it revs up it takes off pretty good? If either of those sound familiar its ur timing. The other thing it could be is ur coil is on its way out.

No, it seems normal, revs smoothly and constant, idles fine once started. It seems like while its starting, its starving for fuel, but once the pressure builds up, it runs fine.

maybe you should try disconnecting the fuel pump lines and filter and all and using compressed air to blow out the lines if there is something clogging them
