Replacing Tweeters with 4x6?
I was scouring through eBay for some good finds, and I got this idea for my 1995 Prelude. I was thinking about replacing my factory installed tweeters with a pair of 4x6's.
I've been reading about 4x6 car speakers in general, and most of the reviews say that they are a waste. However, these situations were mainly from people already owning OEM 4x6's (as in they were not upgrading in size, whereas I am)
So firstly, I'm wondering if your guys opinions are about 4x6 speakers. And secondly, is this modification possible?
Here are some pictures for you viewing pleasure

The terminals that connect the tweeters to the entire audio system.

Impatience FTL (I broke my tweeter so that's why I'm pondering about this 4x6 question)

Clearance is tight, but I don't mind trimming

Plenty o' space...

...I hope
Anyway, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I should have stated that the 4x6's I would be purchasing are Boston Acoustics 2-ways, so there wouldn't be a loss of treble, I assume.
The audio set up in the Prelude has horrible acoustics, in my opinion. The position of the speakers projects a lot of 'rear fill,' because the waves from the rear speakers hit the listeners sooner than do the door speakers. And, because I have stock tweeters, they do not add much for treble (I have Infinity 6.5's running from the headunit all around, so treble is DEFINATELY not a problem).
I was thinking of just replacing the tweeters, but I don't need more High's. I need more of a 'front stage.' (I'm thinking of adding power for the front door speakers in the near future) Or, I was thinking about adding 4x6's

LOL I'm from a predominantly caucasian neighborhood, so in my neck of the woods, 'ballin' is considered to be having a Chevy Silverado, Ford F-series, or Dodge Ram with a 3' suspension lift, a K&N box filter, and a small package
(No hate from me. Just poking fun at all you bros out there.)
Trust me, if there were room for 4x10's, I wouldn't even hesitate.

Are they really that bad?

Update:
It's been awhile, but the speakers finally came in! I installed them, and I can honestly say I'm happy with my purchase.
Now for the pictures...

This speaker fits without any modification to the dash
The brown substance in the lower right hand corner is epoxy. I had some lying around, so I used it for my adhesive.

I had to remove sections from the tweeter cover to allow more sound waves to leave the housing and towards the audience.

The reason why I didn't remove all of the plastic in the tweeter cover is because I wanted to retain the cover's shape.

I'm not sure if you notice, but this is not the OEM tweeter cover fabric. When I removed the plastic chunks, there was no way to salvage the original fabric. So I went to my local fabric store, picked up some light (as in not dense) black fabric to reupholster the covers. It looks fairly OEM to me

I'm an idiot.
I totally forgot to measure the dimensions for the driver side. I thought dimensions on the passenger side would be the same.
I was wrong.
There is a metal container in the back. I guess it's for the OLED display. Anyway, this module had to be pushed back to allow ample room for the speaker.

In the end, I managed.

Again, I had to remove some plastic to allow more sound waves to leave the area.

This shows that becase I only removed sections of the plastic, the tweeter cover upholds its shape. If I removed all of the plastic, the cover's shape would give in like a tawainese hooker
(stab at my ex heh heh heh)

But, because I didn't remove all of the plastic, it looks clean
So how are the speakers? For about $30, I've managed to fulfill my inner audiophile. The high's from the 4x6's are perfect, and now I have a 'front stage.' Music sounds more clear, crisp, and 'in-your-face', compared to the stock tweeters.
I was hesitant of the speaker's performance, but my expectations have been surpassed. In fact, there is so much bass coming from the 4x6 that my speedometer needle bounces up and down when my music is fairly loud (given that I am parked and not moving, of course)
Anyways, I am content
