Default Bad interior fogging issue... trunk is suspect, but where to start?

First off, hi all. Just joined.
I'm actually on here because my girlfriend is out of town, and she left me with her honda so she could take my truck. In her absence I am going to be working on her car and have it a little fixed up as much as I can for her by the time she gets back.

First small issue is this thing fogs like nobody's business. I can have the defrosters on full, and windows cracked and the back will still usually be foggy. I've heard trunk water can easily be the culprit. If it is... where do you even start? anybody tried to remedy this? anything would be great!

I'm not sure about fogging due to trunk water but IF that's what it is, pull the spare tire out and make sure there isn't a puddle under there. I got some Alteeza's for Christmas last year (ehhh, not on there anymore) and they leaked water causing my trunk to pretty much flood. If there is water in the trunk, check around the taillights and make sure they aren't leaking. Also check the grommets in the trunk floor to make sure no water is splashing up around them. Hope this helps.

If the rear light seals are OK. Pop the trunk and remove the carpet & spare tire board. From the outside of the car spray up into the underside of the wheel wells with a high pressure hose and see if there are any leaks around there. That is where the water was getting in on me, the metal seam sealant that they put on at the factory was gone.

Default have aircon turned on...

to reduce excessive fogging from high humidity.
if still doesn't solve problem, then pull back all carpets-yeah, incl. trunk-looking for water leak.

You have the air intake switch (or button) set to outside air, right?

If not and it's set to recirculate air inside the car, your car will fog up. With your windows cracked you are getting a little fresh air so your defroster will keep the fog partly away from the front windows. But the back windows will still fog up.

I have a 94 Accord, I live in Arizona (where it's mostly dry) and I have the same problem. On mornings where there is fog on the inside of the windows, the ONLY way I can get it to clear is by turning A/C compressor on. If it's chilly outside just turn the heat control **** to full hot. The air coming out will have been 'conditioned' and be dryer than if you have outside air coming in.

The funny thing is, I've tried turning A/C compressor off and just having normal heat AFTER I've got it all cleared up...and the fog comes right back.

I didn't suspect a problem, just figured that's the way it is.

I had this problem in my 93 SE 4d. The seals around the brake lights were old and stiff. I just resealed them with some sealant used for home windows (left over from a project). It's been 2 years now and I haven't had a problem with water since.

I currently have a 1990 Honda Civic DX. The trunk leaked terribly and the fogger did not work well. I replaced the gaskets and finally caulked around the body joints. The trunk no longer leaks and the fogger works better than it ever did. I did notice a musty smell when I turned on the defogger and now it is getting better. I suggest you lay down the back seat, crawl in there with a flash light and have someone really hit it with a water hose. This worked for me...no more leaks and no more fogging.
