2nd gen crx DX/HF roof?
I've been looking for a DX/HF roof to replace my 88 Si and have found a few honda sites I could order it from only later to be called and told it was discontinued (big surprise). So I tried getting a hold of a few salvage yards....no luck yet. I don't want to use a sunroof plug. Any sources?
I went through the same thing. I ordered the roof panel from honda only to be called back an hour later saying it was discontinued.
There is a junkyard local to me that is willing to cut it off but they want $250 for it.
What I did was found a guy a few hours from me that was parting out a crx. He planned on sending it to the crusher when the parts were gone anyway. He sold me the roof for $50 and I cut it off with a sawzall.
Before and after pics. I welded it back in place where the factory welds were.

Make sure to get a spot weld cutter to make it a lot easier on you.

I thought I'd have to brace the inside of the roof when I cut the panel, guess it didn't cause you a problem w/o it?
I had a friend that was gonna let me get his roof but I told him I'd wait til everything was out of the car so the interior didn't get wet.....next thing I knew the car was gone.
Yea I need to get a spot weld bit...in the past I used multiple drill bits.

all you need to do is remove the tons of spot welds and remove the panel from the 2 braces. those 2 braces are your main structural supports up there. leave those in and just remove the roof panel is all you need to do. there is seam sealer on it, some welds are hiding under it too.
The roof I cut off, I just hacked it off the car. Then you have to seperate the panel from the braces just like in the car.

Thats what I used as a guide, there are some good pics of what you need to do. I also did this without the windshield, there are welds under where the top of the glass sits.
Trust me get a spot weld bit. I removed the one from the car with regular drill bits. It was a huge PITA. I removed the donor panel with the spot weld bit and it was 10x easier.

I have the crx body book that shows me where all the spot welds are (along w/ measurements) so finding them all shouldn't be a problem. I bought it when I put a core support on my old car.
The windsheild has to come out anyway, I'm planning to rotisserie.
I guess all I have to do now is wait for a car

Hey where did you get the Body Book at? I am going crazy trying to find one. I have a Rex that needs the b-pillar replaced and I am wanting to see how much work it will entail to do it myself instead of paying a shop to do it.
Later.
