I actually had a d16a1 in my 88 crx (long story custom mounts) It was my 1st swap and I was actually proud of it. but I don't think you can put the d16a1 head on a d15 block. See the d16a1 pistons are very domed to be a d-series and if you could get the head to work (IF) your compression would be doo doo. One suggestion would be to use the d16a1 pistons in you d15 block and head. Trust me you will have a mean lil single cam. for awile lol

actually it does work. one of the head bolt hols needs to be threaded for a different bolt cuz it needs a longer one. There are a few minor other things, but it DOES work. Do some research. Pretty good performance gains too.

no you will not have a good performance gain due to the pistons of the d15. The d16a1 has a higher domed pistons compared to the d15 or any other d-series. Putting this head on a single cam block is a waste of time and after all the time and money your motor's compression will be shitty. Why would you give out wrong info. Please do your research and then make comments.

you are the one who needs research. Check out redpepperracing.com and search Hydra swap.

Ok so i am quessing you just glanced at the info??? I never said it could not be done, just pointless. Ok you must use the EW/d15a block which I doubt you have(any other block will require machineing). Also this motor is in the 1gen crx which means will not bolt up into your 95 civic DX... (stated in your name and also assuming this b/c you posted in the 92-00 forum). Trust me you don't want to go down this route of custom motor mounts. I did but like I like I said it was my 1st swap and my father helped me out alot with the fabrication. Also I think the bellhousing bolt pattern is different on the 1st gen which means if you did get your hands on the block you would have to fab up a plate for the motor and your hydro tranny. Also a custom flywheel to compensate for the plate. Also like I have stated THREE times your compression will SUCK. If you are gonna boost this motor it would make more sense just to boost with the SOHC head. All I am saying is that this is NOT worth the time and money (in my eyes) but you asked the question, and I was trying to help. but I suppose your the **** at fabrication and stuff so try it. But don't be mad when you get ur doors blown off by a boosted SOHC with half the money you just dumped into yours.
